Sword/Hero - UTAH - June 18-20,2026
From the Civil War in Sword of Freedom to World War II in Hero Project, scholars will explore the causes, impacts, and principles of war through experiences like singing songs of the Civil War, participating in a Battle of Gettysburg simulation, and will grow to understand the power of individual choice by creating a long-term hero project of their own.
LEMI Mentor Training begins with preparatory resources to help you hit the ground running. During the immersive three-day experience, you'll dive into project-based learning through simulations, practicing effective mentoring techniques while learning to create powerful learning environments based on Leadership Education principles. This hands-on approach helps you gain the confidence and tools to lead meaningful projects with your students. After training, you'll gain access to our dedicated mentor platform for collaboration, free monthly webinars with time for Q&A, and an email accountability program. Get ready to engage, grow, and become the mentor who inspires lasting learning!
As a Transitional Scholar course, Sword/Hero is designed to bridge the gap between the Practice and Apprentice levels. As a mentor in this training, you will learn how to support students as they take on greater academic challenges, balancing increased independence with structured guidance. These courses typically involve 25-30 hours of weekly study, gradually introducing more complex analytical skills and deeper engagement with classic texts. Your role is to help students build confidence in research, writing, and critical thinking while fostering a strong sense of purpose in their learning. Through intentional mentorship, you will guide students in developing both the habits and mindset necessary for higher-level work. By providing a supportive yet challenging environment, you will help students strengthen their hearts, minds, and sense of responsibility, preparing them to transition confidently into the demands of full Apprentice Scholar work.
