Sword & Hero ONLINE Mentor Training
DATES OFFERED ONLINE: May 28-30, June 25-27, July 23-25
Sword of Freedom and the Hero Project guide students through pivotal moments in American and world history—exploring the cost of liberty, the complexity of moral choice, and the power of individual courage. Beginning with the Civil War and continuing to World War II, scholars wrestle with difficult questions about allegiance, sacrifice, justice, and responsibility, discovering that history is shaped not only by nations, but by individuals who choose to act.
This page is for the purchase of LEMI Mentor Training for the Sword of Freedom and Hero Project. Because these courses are built on project-based learning, mentor training is immersive by design. During the three-day intensive, you will step into the role of a scholar—participating in simulations, document studies, discussions, and reflective experiences that mirror what your students will encounter. By engaging the project firsthand, you learn not just the content, but how to mentor students through challenge, ambiguity, and growth using Leadership Education principles.
As a Transitional Scholar–level course, Sword of Freedom and Hero Project bridge the gap between Practice and Apprentice work. These projects typically involve 25–30 hours of weekly study and invite students to take greater ownership of their learning while still benefiting from clear structure and intentional guidance. As a mentor, you will learn how to support students as they strengthen research, writing, discussion, and analytical skills while studying the Civil War, World War II, and the enduring question of what it means to preserve freedom. Through intentional mentorship, you will help students develop disciplined habits, moral clarity, and a growing sense of purpose—preparing them to step confidently into the demands of Apprentice Scholar work while educating both heart and mind.
