Welcome to School Leadership Training!
Whether you hold an official title in a Liber School Community or not, every member is a leader. This training will take you on a journey to deepen your understanding of leadership principles and sharpen your ability to apply them successfully.
Principles are timeless and universal. These principles, applied to individuals, invite personal growth. Similarly, when these same principles are applied to communities, they grow and thrive. As you encounter the following principles and ideas, look for ways to apply them to all aspects of your life.
In this training, you will encounter familiar concepts as well as new ways of thinking. When you are introduced to something you already know, rather than skipping over the content, we invite you to dig deeper and be willing to evaluate how well you put these ideas into practice. The mark of a classic principle or idea is that you can return to it repeatedly and benefit from a richer, enhanced understanding. When you come to content that challenges your current way of thinking, get curious and ask questions to discover what truth you can glean and apply to yourself, your family, and your community.
This manual is a section-by-section guide designed to help you assess and fine-tune the effectiveness of your community’s governing documents. You can also use this as a tool to create governing documents for your new community. Governing documents give a framework that provides structure and guidance for how an organization functions.
The highlighted headings are not necessarily in numerical order. (See Appendix for a full Liber School Governing Document sample.) The text boxes introduce principles that should be addressed in your community in some manner. Additionally, each section provides a logical structure that introduces vital information that will aid you in building a thriving community.
